March 3, 2012: Don't Leave, Sweet Hobbit

I fear that my few readers may be saying that very phrase since I have not updated yet in this month of sheep and huge kitties. Don't worry, while I continue to navigate myself outside of the directions, I always find my way back on the right road.

I am sure D.C. reveled in my exit. Little hobbits fail to be exciting enough for such a big city. The Shire alone can tolerate our intricate personalities. While I was glad to put the big city behind me, I do regret not being able to catch up with more of my friends.

Most of my friends who live in the area had to bail on us, but we did get to see one of them. A lot has changed since the last time we saw each other. We have both married and moved around and fallen in love, but not in that order. She also has an adorable daughter, who loves books. (We all know that doesn't hurt.)

After the little one went to sleep, the rest of us hunkered down to play some games. My game personality could probably stand a little tempering. If you have ever seen me on chocolate, you'd notice a strange similarity. Sometimes the words that flow from my mouth cause people's eyes to almost to pop out of their heads. While this amuses me, I fear it may cause trauma to their brains over time.

While the games we played were new to me, I found them quite amusing. For those who are not following my pinterest pins, we played Fluxx, Monty Python Fluxx, and Guillotine. Keep playing...or start playing...

March 9, 2012: Another Wonderful Day

Friday brings joy into more lives than the rest of the days of the week (except maybe for Sundays). Whenever possible, I try to share that joy and take part in it. Today happened to be an easy day for such endeavors. Shall I list the reasons?

1. I got to buy two huge boxes of Apple Jacks for $5.
2. I got to wander through JoAnn's and buy more toys. Well, they are toys to me.
3. I got to bump into somebody cool from church and offer her one of my extra coupons. Win! Win! I knew I printed the extra ones out for a reason.
4. I got to have lunch with a friend of mine.
5. Lunch included tasty shrimp and ice cream.
6. A bunch of people older than myself smiled at me today. I must look sweet for some reason(s).
7. Apparently, my adopt-a-niece Emma added a full year to her resume today. Happy Birthday, Emma!
8. My husband came home to keep me company!
9. Penguins should be on my television any minute now...

March 31, 2012: Firsts and Lasts

My first post in a long time falls on the last day of the month. This also happens to be the first day of General Conference and hopefully the last day I feel crappy. I seem to have scored a cruel cold at last Sunday's baptism that refuses to completely accept defeat. Being more stubborn than a silly virus, I plan to vanquish my foe by Monday.

Sadly, my illness caused me to neglect my fiction journal this past week. Have you been reading it? You may be missing out. Every now and again, I post something that doesn't make me feel I should proofread it again. I may be too critical of my own artistic works.

So what tangled webs weave inside my head right now? Three novels and about twenty short stories. Pondering self-publishing some of my worthwhile writings. Finally convincing random strangers and not so strangers to purchase some of my handmade journal artistry. Cleaning, obsessive cleaning.

If you happen upon this post by some luck, have a wonderful day and don't prank yourself tomorrow, okay?
