The server that hosts this lovely spot of refreshment had some down time and I don't seem to be able to make it display my updated posts. I am hoping this is resolved soon. As my faithful readers, you know I need no excuses to neglect my duties as a web dive. After all, cake exists... It is not a lie... |
As many of my long term readers should know, this date always finds me eating chocolate cake. I have had to resort to only devouring a candy bar in honor of the day, but that was under extreme circumstances. Today, I filed away my last delicious piece of the concoction known as an Oakmonter. This means I shall feel a little less guilty if I decide to gently coerce another culinary creation into the oven tomorrow. Of course, tomorrow also heralds the return of my work week. Piles of paper await the transformation into notebooks, fabric to transform into beauty, words continue to dance through my mind in hopes of becoming verse or prose, books to read, articles to learn from, email to sort through, music to appreciate, a house to clean, and so much more await my nimble fingers and distracted mind. I sometimes wonder if I should have fewer interests. I am sure some of my readers have opinions on which of these projects I should focus on, but would they be brave enough to tell me? Would you? fanklubz at meowmail dot com |
I woke up this morning and forced myself out of bed at the unthinkable hour of half past six. I don't often see more than a few briefs seconds of that early hour, but when I do, I accomplish much more than I do on the average day. We should all be familiar with the quote from Benjamin Franklin: "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." By ten this morning, I had worked on two journals, washed and folded two loads of laundry, checked in on my friends and imaginary friends on facebook, took a walk to the store to acquire baking supplies, done prep work for my delicious lunch, and accomplished a few other hobbit tasks. All of this made me feel quite accomplished. I proceeded to read from three books and a variety of articles before taking a nap. My ability to accomplish tasks dwindled from there, but maybe I will rise early tomorrow and have something more exciting to report. *rubs hands together in anticipation* |
I should start with a shout-out to my new friend, who I shall call ROB. At least, I hope he'll want to be my friend. At the very least, I'll be his crazy aunt who buys him airplane toys and shakes her finger at his father as she states, "This is Rob's toy. You need his permission to play with it." Luckily, the proud papa has been practicing his airplane noises since around the time of his own birth, so ROB will encourage his father to help play with his toys. In other news, I decided to heft a desk up the stairs today. Aside from one banged up toe, I think I did a good job. Of course, I could have missed out on the toe damage if I weren't a hobbit. After scrubbing the desk down a little, I filled the hutch with journals made with my own little hands. Once more, I think I should visit a craft fair and sell my craftsmanship to an appreciative audience. I'm not sure I have the patience for that. And now for another confession, as you may have noticed, I failed to post on my fiction blog this week. The one person I am certain reads that particular manifestation of my creativity asked me to proofread a rather long document for her. I spent the week editing and appreciating, which means I didn't throw my own words out into the world. I shall have to step up my game, which means, I shall release you from reading this fine journal until next time. Keep reading, my friends. |
I remember to update the cyber world on the events of my life. Sadly, the excitement in my life comes from discovering something random buried in the various rooms of my hobbit hole. I discovered Baloo the Bear on my journeys today. He took refuge behind a curtain in the kitchen a long time ago with Kit and Molly. Sadly, he didn't have a plane to fly around it. You can't have everything. I also found the manual to a weight set we gave away a year ago. I think I'll present the new owners with it the next time I see them. They have a better chance of needing it than I ever will. I also rediscovered my collection of ticket stubs. One of these days, my mild OCD is going to kick in and I am going to have a party with a glue stick and those babies. A girl has to have dreams. In the meantime, I have journals to make and words to assemble. I better get on that or my fiction journal will bring sadness into the world tomorrow. |
I spend some time in a large garden with my husband tonight. I am surprised that he didn't sneeze once. One of our friends belongs to a couple of orchestras and she had a show tonight. The highlights of the evening included the British director implying that the British were returning, the same gentleman yelling at people who cut out before the last song, a spider trying to join me until I scared him away, and delightful music. Aside from that, I spent most of the day in normal world full of paper and fabric. We all love a good Friday evening, so let's plan some more, shall we? |
