December Deadlines

My candy-making fell to the back burner this month. I slowly worked my way through chocolate-covered cherries, caramels, and peanut butter balls before supplementing with fudge. Since each of those took days to complete between feedings and snugglings, I think I did a great job. The one complaint I got was from the one family member who always has something nasty to say. Needless to say, I had already decided she didn't make the sweet gold (candy) list on a year when supplies were more limited. Besides my father-in-law almost did a dance of joy when I handed him a heavy container of the leftover fudge as part of his holiday gift, which made up for any sourpuss moments.

Of course, another holiday means another long trip with our little girl. We tried to divide the time in the car up better. We managed to squeeze in quality time with both family and friends, so maybe we really are getting better at this parenting thing. We also scored enough clothes to keep triplets clothed for the next couple of months, but Serena doesn't mind having lots of spare clothes. In fact, she rang in the new year wearing her very first pair of pants with the tutu firmly attached and did so adorably. I decided to wear my new pajamas and lounge in comfort with my baby ballerina.

I also decided this journal isn't quite ready for retirement, hence my quick recaps. Let's get ready for the new year. (See my fiction blog for my resolutions this year.)
