This is the month when my world completely changed. Looking forward to a child's arrival and holding her in your arms for the first time are like flipsides of the same coin. Until you flip a new coin over, you don't know the beautify of the other side is. Until your baby is in your arms and you become fullt responsible for her health, her happiness, and her protection, you have no idea how overwhelming it is to love and care for such a precious gift.
Needless to say, I spent the first few weeks after her birth worrying that I wasn't feeding her enough or holding her right. I learned to pick up on early signs that she was doing well with help from a few weigh ins at her pediatricians. I also realized that when her face turned red and scrunched up like Jeff Dunham's friend Walter, she would soon require a diaper change. Despite a stilted sleep schedule, I tried to keep my eyes open and pay attention. Every day wth a new baby is a learning experience, after all. Luckily, my husband got a few weeks off to help me adjust.
